THE DRABICKI DISH

Welcome to the Drabicki Dish! Here you will find information on what the students will be learning in class each week, important reminders, and dates to keep in mind.

Important Dates:

Nov. 22-26: No school- Thanksgiving Break

Nov. 30:
End of first trimester


Dec. 8:
Report Cards go home


Important Reminders:

We will be having a Thanksgiving Friendship Mix the day before Thanksgiving Break. There will be a flyer coming home next week with more information. We will also be having our Ten Tally ice cream party that day, too!

Reading:

We have started guided reading groups. We will also continue to focus on finding the main idea in nonfiction text.

Writing:

Students have started their next unit, Literary Essay. They will be learning how to write a response essay to a piece of literature.

*Due to a change in the report card, I will be keeping the Persuasive Letters until the end of the card marking. Students will be shown their grade and have a mini-conference with me to go over strengths and weaknesses. If you would like to know your child's grade beforehand, please email me. Thank you for your patience in this matter!

Science:

Students will being their next unit with Mrs. Schroth next week, called Energy Transfer.

Social Studies:

 The Midwest test will be the week of Thanksgiving. The Map Skills Unit and the Midwest Unit will both be on the report card. Next, we will learn about the Northeast and Southeast regions. 

 

Spelling (word study):

Click on the link on the side for each list! There will not be a spelling test until the week of December 4th. Please check to see which list your child will be on for the second trimester. This can be found under the "Word Study" section on the report card. 

Math:

We have begun Unit 3, which teaches how to compare and make equivalent fractions. Units 1-3 will be on the first report card. The Unit 3 test will be the week after Thanksgiving Break.
