THE DRABICKI DISH

Welcome to the Drabicki Dish! Here you will find information on what the students will be learning in class each week, important reminders, and dates to keep in mind.

Important Dates:

October 15th: Picture Day :)

October 17th & 18th:
Student-led conferences- Sign up for a time and date HERE.

October 24th: STEM Field Trip- Please return form and $4 as soon as possible

October 31st: Halloween Bowling (please return form and $11 cash as soon as possible) and party


Important Reminders:

 *PTA Walk-a-thon update:
Our class is almost at our goal! Keep those donations coming! If our class reaches our goal, we will earn a pizza or ice cream party. We can do it!

-Please make sure your child has all of their supplies. It often causes a distraction during instruction if they do not.

Reading:

We have started our first unit! The students and I will be reading Stone Fox and learning ways to be in charge of our reading. We have also started Daily 3, which is Reading to Self, Reading to Someone, and Word Work.

Writing:

We begun our first unit, which is Persuasive Letter. Students have already brainstormed possible topics and learned the definitions of audience, topic, and evidence. We will begin our introduction next week!

Science:

The students have started their work with Mrs. Schroth. Their first unit, Organisms in their Environment, will have students observing guppies, snails, and dwarf frogs!



Social Studies:

The students are now learning about map skills! We will continue map skills until our first region, The Midwest. In each region, students will study the land, economy, and culture.

 

Spelling (word study):

Lists are now available on my website! Please click on the lions list until further notice. Graded tests will come home every Monday after they are graphed in leadership notebooks.

Math:

Unit 1 tests will come home soon. We will begin Unit 2 this week. Please make sure you are also studying multiplication facts at home.
