Class Information

Please be on the lookout for notes coming home with your child. Below you will find general information about our classroom and the procedures that we will be following this year. If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact me at or at 734-744-2770. The best time to reach me is before school or you may send in a note with your child and I will call as soon as possible.

Each student is encouraged to have their own supplies (glue stick, scissors, pencils, crayons, etc.) labeled with their name in their pencil case.Extra supplies will be provided to those who may not have a certain supply and for those who lose theirs. Therefore, any donations of these supplies would be greatly appreciated! Please make sure you are communicating with your child about any supplies they may need. When students are out, it often causes a distraction during instruction.

Home Folders

Your child will bring home a communication folder each night. I feel that it is very important to have parents and teachers working together. Therefore, I will be making an effort to communicate with you about your child on a regular basis through emails, notes home, and phone calls. Another way for us to remain in contact is through your child’s folder. This folder will be coming home with your child each night and is expected to be returned to school each day.

Reading: Your child is required to read at least 20 minutes each night of the school week. They may read a book of their choice or the books provided for them. Please make sure the books are level appropriate.

Math: Studylinks are to be done after every math lesson and returned the next day.

*Other homework will be explained as it is introduced.

Classroom Behavior

Fourth graders are expected to act appropriately at all times: before school, on buses, at recess, at lunch, at specials, etc. If appropriate and positive behavior is observed, the student will receive a Drabicki Dollar. The more "dollars" they have, the better the chance they have to get a prize. If a student is acting inappropriately, s/he will receive one warning before a parent is contacted.

Birthday Treats

You are more than welcome to send in a birthday treat with you child on their birthday. If their birthday is on a weekend, please send it in on the Friday before or the Monday after. If you are dropping off the birthday treat, please do so before school or during lunch. If your child has a summer birthday, they may celebrate it on their half birthday or on one of the days in June before summer vacation. NO edible birthday treats will be permitted this year. You may send in pencils, small erasers, crazy straws, or you may choose to donate a book in your child's name to our class library.

 Healthy Snacks and Water Bottles

Each morning your child will be allowed to have a healthy snack. Please send in snacks that are easy to eat, easy to open, and won’t make a mess. Chips, cookies, candy, and flavored drinks are NOT allowed in the classroom. Your child may have a water bottle in the classroom. It must be labeled with their name. It can stay in the room throughout the week, but it must go home every weekend and for every break. Only water is allowed in the classroom.

 Changing Busses or Pick Up

If your child is riding home with someone else or riding a different bus, you must send in a note to let me know. Please avoid calling the office unless it is a last minute emergency; some students are often confused or forget without a note. If I do not have a note, I have to send your child home their usual way.

Winter Clothing

During the winter months, students may keep boots or extra shoes at school. We have a space outside of the classroom for these items. However, your child must be responsible for them.

 Gym Days

On gym days, make sure your child is wearing their gym shoes or bringing them to change into. They may also keep a pair in their locker if there is enough space.
